KNX Advanced

The aim of the course is to deepen the knowledge of KNX technology acquired during the Basic course and to introduce new topics such as Temperature Control, Security Technology, Logic Operations, Visualisation Systems, KNX and Multimedia, KNX and Smart Metering/Smart Grid Both courses provide for the award by the association of an internationally recognised KNX Partner certificate.
The course is intended for designers, installers, maintainers in possession of the KNX Basic certificate.
At the end of the KNX Basic course, the student will have to take a theoretical and practical exam in order to verify the acquired knowledge.

OBJECTIVES

Knowledge and use of advanced design and control tools in line with ETS6. In-depth study of climate control systems and integration criteria between centralized and floor heating systems. Introduction to DALI lighting systems and their integration with KNX installations. Principles, management, and integration of security systems. Study and application criteria of basic and advanced logical operations. Introduction to supervision systems.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Designers and installers of electrical and mechanical systems, both civil and industrial.

PREREQUISITES

KNX Basic certification required.

CONTENT

  • Knowledge and use of advanced design and control tools in line with ETS6.
  • Details on the KNX communication protocol.
  • Datapoints: critical aspects and proper use.
  • Programming and management challenges of Line Couplers.
  • In-depth study of climate control management systems.
  • Room temperature regulation systems: On/Off, PI, and PID.
  • Latest developments in integrated climate control systems.
  • Integration criteria between centralized and floor heating systems.
  • DALI lighting systems and their integration with KNX installations.
  • Integration and use of data transmitted by Weather Stations.
  • Principles, management, and integration of security systems.
  • Study and application criteria of basic and advanced logical operations.
  • Gateways and integration with other systems.
  • Introduction to supervision systems.

DURATION

The KNX Certified course consists of 32 hours over 4 days, concluding with a final test required to obtain certification.

Prerequisite for taking the course: passing the KNX Basic exam
Course duration: 30 hours

Pass mark for both exams: >= 50%
